Heisman Watch: Who are my Picks?

Who will bring home the trophy?

As the college football seasons begins to dwindle away, and the bowl games coming right up, there’s one huge thing to determine. Who’s going to win the Heisman?

During late August, my top 3 Heisman finalists were, Trevone Boykin, Running Back Ezekiel Elliott, and finally Connor Cook out of Michigan State. Though, all three of these players have had a good year, all three of these players on my list right now, are gone.

My current three finalists I have contending for the Heisman are, Derrick Henry, Leonard Fournette, and finally Baker Mayfield from Oklahoma. I did have a tough time deciding between Elliott and Fournette, due to the fact the LSU superstar has been struggling as of late, but what he has done this year is outstanding stuff.

Honorable Mentions: Ezikiel Elliott (Ohio State), Trevone Boykin (TCU), Dalvin Cook (Florida State), Deshaun Watson (Clemson), and Christian McCaffrey (Stanford)

Derrick Henry, RB, Alabama

Henry was on my radar at the beginning of the year, and from the bench pressing 500 pounds, to trucking players, and breaking school records. But the thing that set him apart, was that performance vs. LSU. Henry ran for 210 yards, and 3 touchdowns. He proved his case for heisman, out-dueling Leonard Fournette who had only 31 yards.

Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU

Though Louisiana State has struggled as of late, and as well as Fournette you just can’t forget the things he has done this year. He’s rushed for 1582 yards, with 17 TD’S, oh his way to breaking tons of records. I might be going out of a limb here, but he could go down as one the most dominating backs in College Football history.

Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma

Mayfield, has been on a mission this season.

No one saw this coming, but Baker Mayfield has exploded onto the scene this year in College Football. The former Texas Tech and even Oklahoma walk-on has just been on a tear this season, proving people wrong. He is a duel-threat Quarterback, due to the fact he is so dangerous with his feet, to make plays. Not to mention, he is a prime time guy, due to his big performance versus Baylor where he threw 3 TD’S, but also 1 rushing TD, where he ran for 76 yards.

Who Wins it?

In my opinion, even with the outstanding performances of all three of these guys, my Heisman trophy winner is Derrick Henry. He has been consistent since the first week of the season to now, and with that showing against Fournette, I don’t see the committee voting against him.
