Saad, asked for 6 million but Chicago wasn’t willing to give him that money
It’s been a couple months since the Brandon Saad saga ended, and now that the NHL season is in full swing, was it worth it trading Saad? Who won the trade?
After winning the cup in late June, the first thing on the list for the Chicago Blackhawks was to re-sign Brandon Saad to a long-term deal. After long talks of negotiations, and the fact that there was a large gap between what the Hawks were willing to give, and what Saad wanted, he was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets, for Artem Anisimov, Marko Dano, Corey Tropp, Jeremy Morin, and Jack Skille.
Anisimov does fill the void of the second line centre position. A position in which the Hawks have been looking for so long. Dano, on the other hand is a young prospect who has a strong two-way game, but on top of that he is a very versatile player as he can play both the wing and centre. Tropp, will be penciled in as a fourth line guy, while Morin and Skille who were re-acquired, will be players shifting from Rockford to Chicago every now and then.
Signing Artemi Panarin, has helped Hawks fans feel a lot better
Though Hawks fans such as myself were butt hurt when Saad was traded, it looks like Chicago won the trade, and I believe they did, but due to the outstanding performance of Artemi Panarin, he has filled the void on the left wing spot that Brandon left, and he has helped Chicago fans heal a lot better.
